Wizard, captain keith...

The Wizard is a fishing boat based out of Seattle and is known for its appearances on the popular show "Deadliest Catch."

Celebrity sea captain Keith Colburn is leveraging his high profile for two good causes and he’s asking you to help.

Hear Captain Keith on KIRO Radio’s Ron and Don Show at 4 p.m. Friday.

Captain Keith is known for his appearance on the TV show “Deadliest Catch,” where he guides his Seattle-based fishing boat “The Wizard” through treacherous seas. The captain will match dollar-for-dollar donations made to the Tiger Shaw ski team in the upcoming Toyota Ski Pro-Am — up to $5,000. He will take those matching funds and donate them to the F/V Destination Memorial Fund, in memory of the friends he lost at sea recently.

The F/V Destination was recently lost at sea in the same waters that Captain Keith has often worked, off the coast of Alaska. Washington-based fisherman Darrik Seibold went out on the Destination’s last trip, and never came back along with this fellow fishermen.

The charity event on the slopes will benefit the Waterkeeper Alliance and Protect Our Winters. The Waterkeeper Alliance aims to protect natural bodies of water to keep them drinkable and fishable. Protect Our Winters is a charity dedicated to fighting climate change, which threatens mountain snow that many love for recreational purposes.
