I’m open-minded about Trump’s pick for Secretary of State

Dec 15, 2016, 4:20 PM

There’s going to be a lot of attacks against Trump’s pick for Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson. The fact that he is CEO for Exxon doesn’t disqualify him for me in any sense. But for me, it has to be about his ideology and his understanding of the United States’ role in the world. And if he understands what American Exceptionalism really means.

Trump may return the military back to its core mission

I read a piece online about a woman who served with Tillerson on jury duty. Now, he could have excused himself from something like that. But he decided to serve. And she said he didn’t flaunt his power. That he was humble, patient and focused with the other members of the jury.

Tillerson has donated a lot of money — personal and through Exxon — to good causes. But he’s also donated Exxon money to Planned Parenthood and has helped crush the political and religious views of the Boy Scouts. But maybe that’s just corporate politics.

The women who served on jury duty with Tillerson hold a view that you’re not going to hear in the mainstream media.

I seek servant leaders because I think they are the lynchpin, on a human basis, to returning our government to something that serves us.

This one example gives me great enthusiasm for Rex Tillerson on this front. But I will remain open-minded about him.

As always, please listen here to the full audio clip for complete context.

The Kremlin hopes the US election shake-up won’t shift Trump’s negotiations on Ukraine

The Republicans’ defeat in the U.S. midterm elections was watched closely in Russia, where some observers are predicting it could herald more support for Ukraine when the Democrats take over Congress in January. But if the Kremlin is hearing the ticking of a clock on its nearly 5-year-old full-scale invasion of its neighbor, it seemingly […]
