The kind of ‘uniter’ I want to be

By Todd Herman

I was called a divider last week on the show by a phone caller.

Now, I would much rather spend my time uniting people, finding areas of agreement. But sometimes my politics get in the way of my faith. And sometimes my belief in the importance of maintaining the country runs counter to my belief in loving all people; which could be construed as dividing.

But am I dividing people by playing clips of what politicians actually say?

The controversial things I say are things such as: “A country should live within its means.”  That “piling up debts to babies is immoral – it is stealing from the unborn.”

I would love to unite people around a vision where we as a country decide to live in a way that we tell our children to live. Don’t amass debt; don’t be owned by the banks. Save your money; be in control of your life. Be in control of your destiny.

We need to run our country the same way we would run a successful family. That is something I want people to unite behind.
