Marketing your home? Pictures better than video

The Internet is now all about video. However, that medium may not be the best way to show a home.
Brian Sharples, chief executive officer for Homeaway.com, told attendees at the company’s annual weekend summit the best single thing they could do to market their properties was to use more high resolution photographs.
“Photos are better than video,” Sharples said. “Click time is important. Some people are not going to spend the time to see a video.”
HomeAway’s flagship site hosts an inventory of about 520,000 vacation rentals in 120 countries. The company purchased VRBO.com, a pioneer in the online advertising of for-rent-by-owner properties, in November 2006 and continues to run the site as an independent brand.
