Popular Portland-based grocery chain coming to Ballard

A Portland-based grocery store chain is increasing its footprint in Washington, and will add to the list of stores in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.
New Seasons Market is preparing to build a new store at 907 Ballard Way. New Seasons, which sells a mix of local and organic foods, will be within just a few blocks of Fred Meyer and Trader Joe’s near the Ballard Bridge.
New Seasons Market prides itself as championing the regional economy, the company’s website states. The company purchases goods via it’s Local Finds program which works with local vendors, and vendors around the state.
The approximate 25,000-square-foot grocery store will include above- and below-ground parking stalls, according to city permit documents. Just under 25,000 square feet of office space is planned for the second floor of the building. New Seasons will replace the current 18,750-square-foot building on Ballard Way.
The store will be the third in the state, according to the company’s website. One market is open in Vancouver, another is planned for Mercer Island. The Ballard location is scheduled to open in the fall of 2017.
Along with its two immediate neighbors, New Seasons Market will be situated less than a mile from Town & Country’s Ballard Market and Safeway — two grocery stores that are less than two blocks from each other. New Seasons will also be just over one mile from a QFC.
