Populism...

Fox’s Chris Wallace said that Trump’s inauguration speech was the speech of an insurgent, the leader of a revolt, taking power. It has brought the issue of populism into the light.

This has the elites absolutely panicked. Some of the money elites had a series of meetings in Davos, Switzerland trying to defend the system from populists.

They use the phrase “we,” as in “we need a system,” “we need a new approach.” But in the same breath they’ll say things like “the ‘people’ will need to understand that this may require more taxes.”

The one thing you will never hear discussed with these elites is self-reflection.

Look how Bloomberg reports the Davos meeting: “Even in Davos, there are those who are ready to scrap major pillars of the post European order. Two economists said that Europe has things that need to change. One said if the Euro can’t be made to work, it should be dropped.”

This stuns the writers at Bloomberg. It’s because they can’t relate. It’s because they do not live normal, real lives; they have cozied up to government.

Now, I have my concerns about populism as well. But these elites can’t even understand populism. Direct democracies can get messy.
