Sarah Palin’s advice for Washington high school graduates

Former Alaska governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin had a couple of surprises for graduates of Republic High School, in a small north central Washington town, as she spoke for the school’s graduation ceremony.

Palin brought the students two gifts as she spoke to them Saturday afternoon.

“The only thing standing between you and that diploma, which is your ticket into the real-world of work – that diploma, the only thing standing between you and that, is me, so I’ll keep it short. That’s your first gift,” said Palin.

Grads found their second gift taped under their chairs, a $1 bill. The currency she said teaches a couple life lessons.

“There are two life lessons to this dollar they found taped underneath their seat,” said Palin. “The first one is: you’ve got to get off your butt to make a buck, and that the students would never have found that gift had they not taken the time to look for it.”

Hard work continues for students in the Puget Sound area this week. It’s finals week for most high school seniors. The last day of school for seniors in Seattle is this Friday.
