It’s time for some Wednesday Shower Thoughts. Remember when I said I was thinking about getting a new dog? My next door neighbor just got a puppy. It barks a lot. I think I’ll wait on that one. Plus now I can get a few minutes of puppy time randomly throughout the week with none of the responsibility.

Plant slant

I’ve seen such dramatic results with Don going “plant slant,” as he calls it, that I’m trying that diet out for a few weeks. I’m in Day 5 of eating an exclusive plant-based diet. I gotta say, so far, so good. Historically, I’ve ranked enthusiastic vegans among the most annoying people on the planet, so I’m trying to avoid ever donning that moniker. I don’t know where I’ll land on the meat spectrum, but I’m pretty convinced I was eating too much animal protein.

Headphones

Headphone update. I received those fancy Nura headphones that calibrate the sound to your ear canal with a fancy app. I brought them into the station for a little show and tell. Podcast producer Aaron Mason didn’t want to give them back. Gee Scott immediately took down the brand name. And the most understated person in the world, producer Chris Martin, actually cracked a smile.

So I guess they sound pretty good. They have the best bass response and overall clarity of any headphones I’ve ever owned. If you’re a music lover, check them out. Not a paid endorsement by the way.

Mariners

I am about to see my first Mariners games this week. I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get to see Felix Hernandez battle rookie sensation Shohei Ohtani head to head. I’m not rooting against the M’s, but I would like to see a fierce battle where the Mariners hit a dramatic home run to win 2-0. Plus, I love the Japanese Babe Ruth storyline, and I want see if Shohei and Ichiro interact at all?

Boy Scouts

I can’t wait to hear all the people lose their mind that the Boy Scouts is changing their name now that girls are welcome. I have quite a few friends that are always shuttling their kids around to different activities and I imagine just having one scout troop for both sons and daughters is welcomed development.

Waterproof coffee?

Final thought before drying off: I should invent a waterproof way to bring your coffee into the shower.

You can hear “What are we talking about here?” everyday at 4:45 p.m. on 97.3 FM.

The US and Canada could pull back from an all-out trade war. It’s not clear that they will

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. and Canada have ramped up their trade war, hitting each other with steep new tit-for-tat tariffs. Despite the bravado coming from both sides of the border, though, analysts suspect the longtime allies will eventually strike a deal to end a conflict neither really wants. The prospects for compromise looked bleak […]
