Shower Thoughts: Recognizing my blind spots

Time for some Wednesday Shower Thoughts. Let’s lather up and do this.

As a guy who has struggled with seeing his own blind spots many times in my life, it’s painful to watch Bill Clinton be so unaware of how he is coming across right now. He co-wrote his first novel and thought he’d be able to do a leisurely book tour without #MeToo coming up. Now he’s in the middle of it and can’t see what everyone else sees. Doing the right thing here is so easy, why is he continuing to resist and make this about himself? He needs to apologize directly and privately to Monica Lewinsky. Why is that so hard to understand?

Game 3 of the NBA Final is tonight. I’m tired of the GOAT conversation of Michael Jordan vs LeBron James. Clearly, it’s Jordan. But I will say that LeBron has done more with less. Jordan had a much better supporting staff than King James. The fact that Cleveland is even in the finals this year is a testament to how dominant a player he is. Having said all that, the player that I can’t take my eyes off of is Steph Curry. There’s no question in mind that he’s the best at what he does in the history of the league.

After my epic blow-up in a poker tournament last weekend where I blew my legitimate chance at $10,000, I’ve decided I’m taking my talents to Las Vegas to play in a million dollar guarantee tournament. I’ll be up against much tougher competition, but the potential reward is also much bigger. Hopefully, my own blind spot has been exposed and I’ve learned from my mistakes. We’ll see.

My $10K mistake

Good luck to my radio partner this weekend on your half marathon in the woods trail race. If you asked me which one of my friends would morph into a long distance runner, I don’t think I would have picked Don. That’s not a put-down, but an admiration to your will power and discipline. Go get em!

Don’s Trail Thoughts

Question for all my city dog owners. What’s the best breed for condo living? It’s been a little over a year since I had to put down two pups. Dog cancer sucks. Now that I’m in a condo with no yard, what are the best dogs for this situation? I like big dogs by the way.

And finally, today is the anniversary of D-Day. June 6, 1944 has been called the most important battle of all time. It’s nothing short of awe-inspiring courage and bravery that was on display in Normandy on that beach. I can’t wait to go pay my respects in person this fall. There’s a reason they are called the Greatest Generation.
