Shower Thoughts: Ready to hit the slopes

You know what Wednesday means? Besides humpday. Yes, it’s time for Shower Thoughts: the random things that pop into my head in the shower.

Not to brag, but I think I might be among the best in the world at picking the slowest cashier line at every store I’m in. This skill also translates into aggressively changing lanes to then end up in the slowest lane. I have a knack for it.

I know it’s annoying when people do this, but if the NFL season ended today, the Seahawks would be in the playoffs. Just saying.

Speaking of sports, I guess the Mariners are having a full blown fire sale. I did a poll on my Twitter, and 85 percent of you said the M’s would win less than half their games. The majority of you said it would be way less. So we all have that to look forward to next year. Maybe some kind of reverse Murphy’s Law will kick in and they will break their playoff drought with a Bad News Bears roster? Probably not.

I still marvel at how quickly 2018 went by. I hope your year was a good one, however you grade yourself. One of the top 2 or 3 highlights for me was taking Don and my big brother to Europe for their first time. Visiting the beaches of Normandy with some close friends was a truly unforgettable experience. I’ll carry that memory with me for a long time. If 2018 was a tough year for you, make designs on making 2019 better. Pick one thing, and change that. You don’t need to do a total overhaul. Get some positive momentum going, and you’d be surprised where you can be 12 months from now.

If it’s going to be this cold, at least we could start getting a bunch of snow up in the mountains. I got my snowboard out of the closet the other day. I’m ready to hit the slopes soon.

The Puget Sound really does have some spectacularly bad drivers.

Today is the official funeral for President George H.W. Bush. Doesn’t it seem that regardless of party, every living president grows on you after their term is over? I didn’t vote for the younger Bush, but I’ve grown to like him and his father more after their respective presidencies. The same goes for Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. When you’re not shining a spotlight on someone’s every move, it’s easier to appreciate them more as just a person doing the best they can. Rest in peace 41.
