Spokane was the only city in the state to be named to CNNMoney’s top 25 cities for retirement.
Spokane, ranked No. 19, was chosen for its sunshine, lakes, golf courses and five nearby ski resorts. Approximately one-third of its 208,900 population is over the age of 50. The city’s median home price was listed at $138,000.
Boise (median home price $120,000) pulled down the No. 3 spot. One aspect CNNMoney found remarkable about Boise was its crime rate was about half the national average.
Marquette, Michigan was atop CNNMoney’s list of retirement cities.
