Told you so: Second Avenue bike lane will ‘lead to accidents’

“This is going to lead to accidents.”
Dori took a drive down Second Avenue last month to witness Seattle’s newest bike lane and predicted the new configuration would be confusing and dangerous.
This new design, with its confusing signals is no improvement, Dori said on Sept. 8. “Somebody else is going to be killed because of this design.”
In fact, a bicyclist was injured Wednesday morning between Pike and Union streets when a car turned across the lane in order to enter a parking garage.
The female bike rider was checked out by medics at the scene and was able to ride off on her own.
The collision prompted the SDOT to remove several parking spaces along the street to increase visibility, according to The Seattle Times.
An additional 50 feet of street parking next to the garage where the crash happened was also removed.
