What has happened to me?

I took a photo of my mileage readout after three weeks of driving this car to prove I was getting 221.8 average MPG. As an added bonus, it's a great looking vehicle. (Dori Monson Photo)

If someone six months ago had told me that I would be a Diet Coke teetotaler and would be driving a hybrid/electric car, I would have thought they were insane.
I’ve been a six-pack-a-day DC drinker for 30 years… and I’ve always driven pickups, SUV’s and sports cars.
But I’m now two weeks clean and sober on the DC… and, thanks to my friends (and great show-sponsors) at Evergreen Ford in Issaquah, I’ve now become absolutely convinced that I’m experiencing the future of transportation with my Ford Fusion Hybrid.
I’ve discovered that 95 percent of my driving is within all-electric range of the vehicle. But I can still do all the freeway driving that I want and I don’t have to worry about running out of juice because the hybrid power has a range of over 400 miles. I took a photo of my mileage readout after three weeks of driving this car to prove I was getting 221.8 average MPG. As an added bonus, it’s a great looking vehicle.
But I’m starting to worry about myself… no Diet Coke… driving a 200 MPG car… I’m turning into everything I used to ridicule.
I’d write more… but I have to go shopping. I’m off to buy a pair of Birkenstocks.
