DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Missile alert sirens sounded Wednesday in Jordan’s port city of Aqaba as officials in neighboring Israel say an Iranian missile attack targeted the kingdom.

Plumes of smoke could be seen overhead in Aqaba in videos filmed by people in nearby Eilat, Israel.

Officials in Eilat described it as an Iranian missile attack that saw no fragments reach Israel.

Jordan has been repeatedly targeted by Iran for hosting U.S. troops and aircraft.

Another recent attack on Aqaba saw Israeli officials warn that there could be a spillover of the Iranian attacks into its territory.
