Dec 10, 2014, 10:48 PM | Updated: May 8, 2016, 10:50 pm

Another construction crane will soon dot the Bellevue skyline, as work begins on the city’s newest downtown office building.

In this week’s edition of “What are they building?” Developer Schnitzer West announced Wednesday construction on the 16-story Centre 425 tower is now underway at 425 106th Ave NE – the former site of a Bank of America branch.

The bank is the first confirmed tenant for the building, scheduled to open in 2016.

The new tower will offer approximately 360,000
square feet of Class A office space along with street-level retail.

Centre 425 is one of three new downtown Bellevue projects underway, including Kemper Development’s 31-story 400 Lincoln Square, and the 19-story 929 Office Tower, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports.

The building will have a high-tech conference and training center, fitness center, and a “great room” designed to foster collaboration and productivity.

“Centre 425 will be the jewel of the Bellevue CBD,” said Schnitzer West’s Pam Hirsch in a statement.
