Kshama Sawant charged for SeaTac protest arrest

Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant has now been formally charged with disorderly conduct for her role in a minimum wage protest at Alaska Airlines headquarters.
Sawant and three others were arrested for blocking the road and refusing to move at last month’s demonstration near Sea-Tac Airport.
“It’s not about me. It’s about the workers who have been fighting for $15 an hour,” Sawant told KIRO Radio’s Brandi Kruse as she was led away in handcuffs at the demonstration.
Sawant faces a maximum of 90 days in jail or a $1,000 fine, SeaTac City Attorney Mary Mirante Bartolo said.
