Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett says his opinion on the Black Lives Matter movement is different than teammate Richard Sherman’s.

Bennett responded to Sherman’s discussion of the movement on Thursday during a news conference after the team’s practice.

“We had a conversation about it,” Bennett said. “His opinion is different than mine.”

Bennett: Defense is like marriage

Social injustice has been going on “for a while,” Bennett said. People are beginning to see others for who they are and not the color of their skin, however, there is still a “small amount of people” who judge people by their skin, he added.

“We are all just people at the end of the day,” he said.

The Black Lives Matter movement became a topic of conversation for at least some within the Seahawks organization after someone wrote a scathing post of activist King Noble using the pseudonym RSherman25. Sherman said he did not write the post, but did agree with some of the points made.

Sherman said there are alternatives to violence to bring attention to the injustice in the country. He said the “problem” doesn’t just lie with police and white people. He also added that before things can move forward, black-on-black crime needs to end.
