Suspect in custody after fatal shooting in Spanaway

An investigation is underway after a fatal shooting in Spanaway Tuesday afternoon.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department tweeted that homicide detectives and forensics had responded to the scene in the 1800 block of Military Road South.
Investigators said the suspect reportedly drove a short distance from the scene and headed towards to the Joint Base Lewis-McChord gate to turn himself in.
Deputies took the suspect into custody at the gate.
The suspect has been identified by the County Sheriff’s Department as a 50-year-old male. The victim was a 52-year-old male, and the two men were brothers. The shooting occurred at a construction site during an argument.
Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses, and additional details will be released Wednesday morning.
