A truck hauling concrete overturned on northbound I-5 in Lynnwood Friday morning, just as the morning commute was getting underway.
The truck overturned at around 5 a.m. South County Fire reports that the truck driver was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved. Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman said that “speed is a factor” in the crash.
A two-mile backup formed behind the scene.
The incident happened where I-405 connects with northbound I-5 in Lynnwood near the Alderwood Mall. The scene initially blocked two general purpose lanes on the right, as well as the ramp from I-405 onto I-5, leaving only one lane open to traffic.
The truck was towed away shortly after 7 a.m., but crews remained cleaning up the roadway before opening all lanes to traffic.
All lanes opened by 8:10 a.m.
Good morning. Rough commute if you’re traveling through #Lynnwood this morning on northbound I-5. A tipped over cement truck is blocking the right two lanes at I-405 and partially blocking the ramp from northbound I-405. The left two lanes are still open. Expect delays. pic.twitter.com/Wn88ydMfWp
