A mom faced with an intruder coming in her house armed herself and defeated the intruder. Note, however, that the intruder was shot five out of six of her shots and he still managed to drive away.

    That the guy that broke in was not armed.She would have probably stopped the break in by simply saying through the door that someone was at home instead this idiot introduced agun into the situation after the creep entered the home. Common sense says that if the creep got a hold of the gun a different outcome may have taken place.Also if this women felt she was in danger why is it she called her husband instead of 911? I have a feeling this guy was there to collect a debt owed to him.

    He was there to collect on his entitlement... He was owed what this family had lawfully worked for and earned - being productive Americans. He received his entitlement - 5 bullets. He is lucky to be alive. The MOM DID THE RIGHT THINGS. First and foremost - defend her kids and herself.

    This woman is a hero, not an idiot. It's not uncommon to have a policy to not answer the door for strangers. I guess a crowbar doesn't constitute a weapon to you, huh? Your common sense remark is laughable. She has a gun and know how to use it. The creep had about 0% chance of getting it away from her to affect a different result. How long do you think it would have taken for 911 to get results? I'm sure your first inclination would be to call 911, but then you would be the one with crowbar holes in your head instead of the perp.

    The average police response time - after being called - is 7 - 10 minutes. Rural areas are even longer. Never allow yourself to be a victim.

    You failed to read the article,she had a gun all right but she shot the guy 5 times and still did not stop him so obviously she was never instructed as to do more then pull the trigger.Yes it is very uncommon to even acknowledge someone at your door.All she had to do was inform the guy the PD had been called and were in route.The officer on the video even stated several PD officers lived in that neighborhood.

    Gun control advocates dispense with the idea that 'guns don't kill people, people kill people.' That is, it's the object (e.g. gun) which is responsible for death. Wouldn't that advocate now have to concede that the object in this case is wholly responsible for the successful defense of a woman and her children? The justification for the intruder (in the first post) is telling.

    What do you mean he wasn't armed, what is a pry bar? We are not required to answer the door to prevent a break in. This is a free country, why send bad guy down road to break in someone elses house. Two other suggestions. Why are we told run and hide. Secure the kids, then protect your house. Seattle Police try to use this line for those stupid enough to listen. Lady should have small bug out bag next to gun. An extra speed loader and guy would not have left the house. He could have killed inocent people driving impaired, five rounds in his body. Then some liberal would sue her for letting the bad guy go.

    why should a mom have to wait to see IF the burgler does or does not have a weapon, just get your gun and deal with the issue. the piece of garbage who is commiting a crime does not deserve to live or suck off the tax payers in prison.
