Police recovered clown masks in the woods this near Rogers High School, putting the school in modified lockdown Tuesday morning.

The lockdown was planned last night when several students at the high school received text messages that a clown planned to kill students, but someone reported seeing the new clowns armed with knives this morning.

Detective Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office says they aren’t taking any chances with these kind of threats.

Nobody is in custody at this point, and the report of the clowns being armed is not confirmed.

The reports follow at least three instances where people have called police regarding clowns creeping around areas of Pierce County.

Two Puyallup schools closed after threats

The FBI has joined the investigation into a threat of violence at a Puyallup high school.

District administration opted to close two schools Tuesday because of the threat.

The threat to Emerald Ridge High School forced the closure of that school and Glacier View Junior High, according to the district.

According to Puyallup police, the department received information about a threat of violence at Emerald Ridge at approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Detectives from the department’s Major Crimes Unit, along with the school’s resource officer and Pierce County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
