Navy sends an admiral back to Bremerton amid 'inappropriate judgment' allegation

In an unusual move, the U.S. Navy is sending the admiral in command of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Middle East back to Bremerton, pending the outcome of an "inappropriate judgment" investigation.

Rear Admiral Charles Gaouette is being sent back to the USS John C. Stennis' home port of Bremerton in what the Navy called a temporary reassignment.

The Navy says, in a statement released today, Gaouette is not formally relieved of his command of the Stennis strike group but will be replaced by Rear Adm. Troy M. Shoemaker, who will assume command until the investigation is completed.

It is rare for the Navy to replace a carrier strike group commander during its deployment.

The Navy is not revealing details of the allegations. The statement cites an "accusation of inappropriate leadership judgment" that arose during the strike group's deployment to the Middle East.

The Stennis group deployed from Bremerton in late August, deploying four months earlier than scheduled. The Stennis made port visits in Thailand and Malaysia on its way to the Middle East.

I don't know which boat had the 6th fleet AOR Sept 11????? Actually, I'm pretty sure that part of the world had no carrier support at that time.

    Welcome back WIlliam
I'm doing feature reporting for all the talk shows, and online here. Not getting up at 2am is a joy, so is spending the day working on unique stories I want to pursue. John's the new morning guy, along with Tom Tangney and the news anchor Ursula Reutin. Bill Radke will likely turn up on KUOW again.

Was there a 7.7 earthquake in the Pacific Northwest?
    Were there tsunami alerts?

We would never know from MyNW since they didn't cover it!

Don't know because the folks at MyNW are sleeping on the job. Went home early and sleeping in late.

Time for me to find another news outlet.

I can't do everything ;) Watched the UW/Oregon State game though, it was a good one. UW win 20-17. Ducks game was a wild one. 70-14 over Colorado. Ouch. Tsunami warning has been cancelled for the West Coast due to that earthquake.
