Seattle rapper Macklemore prank calls ticket scalperon October 8, 2013 @ 8:50 am (Updated: 9:46 am - 10/8/13 )
Most artists don't like scalpers, the people who buy up tickets to their concerts and then resell them for an inflated price.
Seattle rapper Macklemore, who's doing three sold-out shows at Key Arena at the end of the year, decided to call one of these ticket re-sellers.
"Hello I'm calling about the Craigslist tickets for the Macklemore show," the rapper said in a fake British accent.
The woman was selling them for $65 a ticket.
"I don't know if the bloke is worth $65 a ticket," said Macklemore.
This British version of Macklemore was not convinced the rapper's worth $65 a ticket, so he tried to get her to go lower.
"You've got to understand I'm trying to wheel and deal here."
The lowest she'd go is $60 a piece, and she pointed out that tickets on some sites are going as high as $120 or more a ticket.
"What's even this bloke's best song?" Macklemore asked.
"He's got two of them actually," the woman on the line said.
"Only two songs? Two-hit wonder," Mackemore said.
Not long after that, he's done with the game.
"You missed out a little bit because this is actually Macklemore - and now I know you don't exactly like my hair."
He also seemed hurt that she didn't know he and Ryan Lewis have created more than just a couple of hits.
"I have more songs," said the rapper. "We have more songs than two."
