The Green River killer story has been a book and movie. Now the real story of the man who murdered at least 49 women in King County in the 1980s will be told in a graphic novel.
Dark Horse comics says writer Jeff Jensen’s graphic novel is based on his father’s search for Gary Ridgeway. Detective Tom Jensen searched for the killer for nearly 20 years, much of it as the only sheriff’s detective on the case. Jensen submitted DNA evidence for testing that eventually led to Ridgway’s conviction. Ridgway is spending the rest of his life in prison.
In an interview with Dark Horse, Jensen talks about what he remembers from his father’s search for the Green River killer.
“I was 13 when my father was recruited to the Task Force in 1984. I was keenly aware that he was involved in an important piece of police work. However, my father rarely talked about it – he didn’t like to – and I was wary to ask him about it,” say Jensen.
