In a bizarre interview during the waning hours of the World Economic Forum, Gov. Jay Inslee left the CNBC hosts speechless. Well, almost speechless, with one saying “Wow” multiple times after hearing an astronomically bad idea from Inslee.
Inslee shouldn’t give out participation trophies
“All is not rosy in this particular plan,” proclaimed Inslee. “And at some point, America will have to do what it’s done on many occasions after … Republican presidents have come in. We will have to restore the balance of our fiscal condition.”
In other words, Jay Inslee wants to raise taxes.
After his comments, CNN’s Chris Cillizza suggested Inslee could be one of more than 20 Democrats considering a run for president in 2020. Is Cillizza pretending Inslee is a viable presidential candidate? Republicans should cheer this move on. The promise of raising your taxes is an easy campaign message to annihilate come election season.
Pretending that no good came of the GOP tax plan, Gov. Jay Inslee, inexplicably, claims the plan would hurt his taxpayers because the state has a strong economy and would end the problem of some people paying a disproportionate amount of taxes. This is a clear departure from his clear love of taxes and willingness to always target his wealthiest citizens to “pay their fair share.” This state has the worst regressive taxes in the country, yet, suddenly, he’s mad that some benefiting from the strong economy are targeted. It appears Inslee is only upset that he’s not the one targeting them.
After the interview with Gov. Jay Inslee, and as they were tossing to break, CNBC host Joe Kernen was almost speechless: “Wow. Wow. Wow, that uh … that’s all I can say to that, is, uh, wow.”
That’s exactly what the response from the American people should be. Wow.
