On Tuesday, Women’s March tweeted: “Rest in peace and power, Barbara Bush.”

Less than 24 hours later, Sawant tweeted the following: “This is terrible. @womensmarch organizers have helped lead historic protests since Trump’s election but this tweet shows how, without a political compass, even well-meaning progressives can end up giving cover to ruling class & ultimately undermining struggles against oppression.”

Women’s March is described as a “women-led movement providing intersectional education on a diverse range of issues and creating entry points for new grassroots activists & organizers to engage in their local communities through trainings, outreach programs and events.” It is “committed to dismantling system of oppression through nonviolent resistance and building inclusive structure.”

Former First Lady Barbara Bush died Tuesday at the age of 92.
