We have had so many attacks lately in the Puget Sound region. And now we have another story about another outrageous crime, as reported by KTTH’s Jason Rantz.
A father and daughter were on their way to the Cinerama downtown on Father’s Day when a man allegedly came up behind them spouting nonsense and harassing the daughter. The police report states that he was quite clearly high on some substance.
The daughter had a collapsible baton in her purse for self-defense. According to the police report, the girl asked the suspect, David Ailep, to get away from her, but he refused. She observed that he had something in his pocket that looked like a knife and his left hand was pulled back like he was going to hit her. She feared that he was going to strike her, so she screamed at him to get away and pulled out her baton. Police say he grabbed both her arms and wrestled the baton out of her hands.

At this point, the dad got involved. According to the police report, he tackled Ailep to the ground, but Ailep swung the baton at the father hitting him on the forehead and leaving a huge lump. When police arrested him, they say they found a knife, a cell phone, and a wallet that didn’t belong to him.
Think about how often this is happening — whether it’s the attempted rape at Golden Gardens, the alleged rape in Ballard, the homeless guy with a rope who allegedly tried to choke the tourist outside the Space Needle. We told you about the convention that fears for its attendees after its employees encountered people talking to themselves, doing drugs, and urinating on the sidewalk. Now you have a dad and daughter who cannot even go to a movie in the middle of the day on Father’s Day.
This is the very carefully crafted creation of Jenny Durkan, who is looking to be a stunningly ineffective mayor, the accused child rapist before her, and the Seattle City Council, which has worked feverishly to bring as many homeless people and criminals here as possible so that they can raise taxes.
It is absolutely staggering to me to hear Jenny Durkan say that this is just one isolated incident. What kind of insanity leads someone to say that this city is still safe? Yeah, tell the dad and daughter that this was just a random incident. Tell all the people who walk around downtown and see the zombies that you have brought in. Tell National Geographic, which chronicled how gangs and cartels have pointed out Seattle as the place to do business because of our non-existent drug laws. It’s more proof that she is clueless. You have to identify a problem before you solve a problem.
“So a daughter has to get attacked by a homeless guy. So a dad got hit in the head. So a tourist got strangled with a rope. We’ll use that to tell people to give us more money.”
It’s a despicable strategy, but it’s very carefully crafted. So a few people have to die along the way — if we can get a tax increase, they died for a noble cause.
