A pair of crashes snarled the morning commute Friday.

The first was a rollover crash on southbound I-5 near JBLM. Before it was eventually cleared, all but one lane was getting through. Even with all lanes open, a seven mile backup took hours to fully resolve.

The morning’s second accident was once again on northbound I-5 at Mercer Street, that briefly blocked the middle two lanes. While the drive into Seattle from Federal Way and Southcenter remained relatively light, things slowed down for drivers closer to the downtown area.

A fatal motorcycle collision yesterday in the same area had Thursday morning traffic slowed to a halt.
