Remains of two individuals found in bags in West Seattle have been identified

Police say several bags of human remains were discovered at the beach in West Seattle on Friday, June 19. The bags were located near the water in the 1100 block of Alki Avenue SW. Another bag was found in the water.

Detectives began their investigation once the contents of the bag were determined to be remains. The King County Medical Examiner is assisting in the investigation.

On June 30, 2020, Seattle Police homicide detectives, working with the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, have identified the remains of two individuals as a 27-year-old male and a 36-year-old female.

The case is not believed to be connected to any other investigations in the area.

This is an active homicide investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact SPD’s Violent Crimes tip line at (206) 233-5000.
