Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in the 2400 block of Aurora Avenue North in Seattle on Monday morning, where several people were reportedly injured.
Responders requested support for what was categorized as a “mass casualty incident.” Seattle Fire reports six adults were transported to Harborview Medical Center. Three are in critical condition, and three are in stable condition. One firefighter sustained minor injuries.
The fire was brought under control around 6:30 a.m., and is now under investigation.
Seattle police had been assisting with traffic in the area — the southbound direction at North 38th Street is opened only for King County Metro buses. Northbound lanes at Valley Street have been reopened to all vehicles.
In an afternoon update, a spokesperson from Harborview Medical Center said there are now seven patients being treated, four with burns who are critical in intensive care, and three who are satisfactory and all jumped from the building.
