Washington Representative Jim Walsh is apologizing for wearing a yellow Star of David on his shirt while speaking to conservative activists in Lacey, Wash., on Saturday.
“This gesture went too far,” Walsh told KTTH’s Jason Rantz. “It was inappropriate and offensive. I’m terribly sorry that it happened and that I was a part of it.”

Walsh (R-Aberdeen) said his intent was to warn against government overreach that can lead to what he calls “horrible outcomes.”
Washington Senate Democrats called on Walsh to educate himself about the Holocaust and speak with survivors.
“It was just a dumb idea and it was not effective,” Walsh said.
