Police are now trying to find the person who shot and killed a man in his 20s at a busy park in SeaTac late Tuesday night.

King County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Meyer says the park, near Tyee High School, was a busy place to be when the shooting happened, around 8:30 p.m.

“It was a crowded park, so you’ve got a very nice evening, we had folks out enjoying Tyee and basketball courts and all this open space. Those witnesses are going to be critical to helping us determine suspects and exactly what transpired here,” Meyer said.

The park is also next to the SeaTac police station, so officers responded quickly.

“They heard the sound of gunshots, immediately came over, and learned that we had one victim who was deceased here in the park,” he said.

No information is available on the suspect yet. An investigation is underway.

Sgt. Meyer says the victim is the 18th person killed by gunfire that King County deputies have responded to this year.
