“The Jungle” is an area under and around I-5 through south Seattle that has become known as a hotbed of homeless encampments. But one Seattle City Council member recently expresses that locals should stop referring to it as “The Jungle” because of negative connotations.

Instead, the council refers to the region as the I-5 East Duwamish Greenbelt, and references it as such in legislation.
That poses a problem for shows at KIRO Radio, such as the Ron and Don Show, which have used “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns ‘n’ Roses as a lead in for stories about the area. At least it was a problem until co-worker Aaron Mason went into the studio.
