One of the original Dick’s Drive-In locations is closing down for a remodel starting Monday.

Broadway Dick’s Drive-In to close until spring of 2022 for remodel

The Broadway location on Seattle’s Capitol Hill is getting an overhaul for the first time since it was built in 1954. They’re replacing all the plumbing, wiring, and cooking equipment.

On Facebook, Dick’s Drive-In states that the employees at the Broadway location will be temporarily transferring to other locations during the remodel. It’s set to reopen next spring.

How does Dick’s Drive-In pay workers $19 an hour with a menu completely under $5?

But there’s good news too: Dick’s is opening a new restaurant Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Crossroads Mall in Bellevue. This will be the eighth drive-in location for the local burger chain, and the first on the Eastside.

According to the grand opening event page on Facebook, there will be performances from the Sammamish High School Band and Bellevue High School Band and Cheer Team, and speeches from select VIPs. There will also be a pop-up apparel shop from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
