Boeing will move its headquarters from Chicago to the Arlington, Virginia area, just outside Washington D.C., the company announced Thursday.

“It’s just really clear that Boeing is becoming more and more dependent upon the Pentagon right now than it is on commercial aviation …This makes all the sense in the world,” Scott Hamilton, director with Leeham Co, told KIRO Newsradio.

The official announcement is expected to come as soon as next week. Boeing HQ left Puget Sound for Chicago in 2001.

“Look at all the contracts that Boeing defense has been receiving here in the last two years since the pandemic, exacerbated by the Max crisis … there were all these little tells that were out there,” Hamilton added.
