All lanes of northbound Interstate 5 just north of State Route 520 are closed Friday morning after a concrete truck rolled over, spilling several yards of cement into the interstate.
Only the concrete truck was involved in the accident, and there were no injuries involved, a spokesperson with Washington State Patrol (WSP) told MyNorthwest.
🚨HAPPENING NOW🚨
UPDATE: We are temporarily fully blocking all lanes of northbound I-5 just north of SR 520 in #Seattle due to a cement truck rollover. Cars are getting by in the left shoulder. Please use alternate routes in the meantime while we get this taken care of! pic.twitter.com/9XdiVJHGgO— WSDOT Traffic (@wsdot_traffic) July 15, 2022
WSP anticipates a “lengthy recovery” process as the spilled cement presents a unique obstacle to clear from I-5. A tow truck to remove the rolled-over vehicle is en route as of 8:50 a.m. but has not yet arrived.
While all lanes of that section of northbound I-5 are closed, limited traffic is passing on the shoulder. The Washington State Department of Transportation recommends using alternative routes.
Update:
FINAL UPDATE!: ALL CLEAR! All lanes of northbound I-5 and the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to northbound I-5 are fully open just north of SR 520/at the East Roanoke Street Overpass.
