Were you able to snag those coveted Wild Card tickets to witness the Mariners end their 21-year playoff drought in Toronto?

If not, and you are still hoping to see the game in person, we did a little travel research to see what it would cost for you and a friend to fly to Toronto for the weekend, make it to the second playoff game in time for the first pitch Saturday and return home Sunday.

What makes Mariners so different heading into playoffs

According to Expedia, there are still plane tickets available from Seattle to Toronto. If you can leave right away, Delta and United Airlines each have flights, with the cheapest round-trip tickets between Sea-Tac Airport and Toronto’s Pearson Airport listed at $806.

Next, you’ll need a place to stay.

Airbnb has a few one-bedroom apartments close to Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays play.

Trying to keep things reasonable, we limited the search for homes you didn’t have to share with any other residents for under $250. There’s a nice modern condo for $183 (Canadian) dollars a night just blocks away from the game. It has two beds and one bathroom, and the total before taxes for two nights was $475.

There is a less-expensive shared room situation, but it came with a stripper pole in the middle of the living room, and the owner was unclear about who else might be staying there.

Food won’t be a problem. You could eat at the ballpark, but Toronto is also a great restaurant city. TripAdvisor just updated their list of the best restaurants there, with some highlights including a Louisiana steakhouse, a Michelin-star French restaurant, or just a classic sports bar to put you in the mood for the game.

And finally, transportation. The Union Pearson Express is a light rail system that takes you from the airport to Union Station in downtown Toronto in 25 minutes for only $12.35.

As of Friday morning, the Canadian dollar was worth about $0.71 American, meaning if you take a chance and get out of town right away, you could save more than 25% on everything you buy in Toronto.

And there you have it, the work has been done for you. Now all you have to do is get out of town and root for the Mariners!
