Firefighters extinguish encampment blaze spread to Ballard business

The American Red Cross is helping unhoused people find a place to stay after their tents at an encampment caught fire Tuesday in Ballard.
Seattle Fire says it happened at an encampment, and the fire spread to a nearby business, with crews working to extinguish the blaze Tuesday afternoon.
Suspect arrested for downtown Sumner fire that destroyed businesses
At about 4 p.m., firefighters responded to a reported fire at NW 43rd Street and 8th Avenue NW, where they found a fire that had grown into the Albert Lee Appliances.
NW 43rd St. and 8th Ave. NW: fire is under control and the incident is stabilized. Mobile Ventilation Unit responding to help ventilate the structure of smoke. Fire investigators responding to scene to determine cause.

By 4:15 p.m., crews had water on the blaze and investigated the scene.
Within 15 minutes, the fire was under control and stabilized.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
