School closures, delays as more freezing temps bring icy roads, more snow

After snow continued to fall for most of Wednesday, Thursday’s below-freezing conditions are creating a mixture of rain, slush, snow and ice on roadways around the Puget Sound region.

More schools have canceled or delayed classes again today due to the weather.

Snow, power outages, debris, and standing water, have made the roads around the region challenging, with numerous spinouts and crashes on Wednesday.

  • Winter Storm Warning is in effect for King and Snohomish Counties through 11 a.m. Wednesday, with up to 4 inches of snow possible
  • Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the mountains and Kitsap/Hood Canal, with over 4 inches of snow possible

Several school districts, including North Puget Sound School Districts,  King Co. School Districts, Lewis Co. School Districts, Kitsap & Mason Co. School Districts, Island & Snohomish Co. School Districts, Clallam & Jefferson Co. School Districts, and some area private schools are closed or delaying classes for students due to the weather.

  • Montesano SD- Closed
  • EdCC-Headstart/EHS- AM and PM preschool classes canceled. Staff work remotely according to their regular schedule.
  • Index SD- Closed, No out-of-district transportation
  • Muckleshoot Tribal School- Closed for in-person instruction. Transition to remote learning.. Muckleshoot Tribal School and Headstart have transitioned to online learning. All School Activities are canceled. MCDC and CCDF Infant Toddler Center are closed.
  • Riverview SD- All Schools Closed. All meetings, field trips, afterschool activities canceled. No out-of-district transport of Extended Day Services.
  • Snoqualmie Valley SD- Schools closed, district offices open
  • Bellevue SD- All campuses closed, No kindergarten or preschool
  • Enumclaw SD- Closed
  • Mary M. Knight SD- Closed
  • Bethel SD (WA)- Closed
  • Carbonado SD- Closed, No out-of-district transportation
  • Orting SD- Closed
  • Puyallup SD- Closed, No preschool, No out-of-district transportation
  • Sumner-Bonney Lake SD- Closed
  • White River SD- Closed, No out-of-district transportation. Classes will not be held today and all school activities have been canceled.
  • Yelm Community Schools- Closed
