A driver was forced to spend the night in his vehicle after careening over an embankment along westbound I-90 on Sunday.

The crash occurred near milepost 49 on Snoqualmie Pass at approximately 9 p.m. The driver was able to call 911 at 9:37 a.m. on Monday.

The driver was not injured.

Washington State Trooper Rick Johnson says details of the crash are somewhat sketchy. However, with road conditions the way they were overnight, Johnson says the crash was likely weather related.

The Washington State Patrol has investigated hundreds of crashes since a cold snap brought in snowy weather last week. The state patrol investigated 113 crashes in a 24-hour period between last Thursday and Friday, according to Trooper Johnson.

And the snowy weather looks like it might not let up for at least a few more days.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures throughout Western Washington will be in the mid-20s to low 30s through the week.

Though the level of certainty is relatively low, the National Weather Service says more lowland snow is possible for Western Washington later this week.

A system expected to move in late Wednesday or — more likely — Thursday could bring snow, according to the Weather Service.

“The air mass over the area should be cold enough for lowland snow,” the Weather Service writes.

Lowland snow could linger into Friday.
