The reward for information about the whereabouts of Liban Abdulkadir Sheikh, a 52-year-old from Somalia, wanted in connection with a 2002 killing and shooting in Lakewood, has increased to $50,000.
Authorities alleged that on Nov. 27, 2002, Sheikh forced his way into a residence at the Meadowbrook Apartments on 146th St. SW and shot a man, killing him. The man’s girlfriend was also shot and wounded. Sheikh allegedly fled Washington and was later seen in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
A local arrest warrant was issued in Pierce County Superior Court on Nov. 27, 2002, after Sheikh was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and first-degree burglary.
A federal arrest warrant followed on Dec. 9, 2002, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Tacoma, charging Sheikh with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Sheikh should be considered armed and dangerous. He is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He has aliases Liban A. Sheikh, Nor Abdulkadir Sheikh, Nor Mohammed, “Blue,” and “Ali Jama.”
