6 ‘major’ paving projects planned for Seattle’s streets

Seattle will continue its roadway rehabilitation this year with what the department of transportation is calling “major” paving projects.
Chokepoints: Small town Bothell getting big city makeover
Crews will repave six arterials in the city as part of its Paving Program.
The following projects are slated for 2017 (in no particular order):
• Georgetown paving project
• Fourth Avenue South
• Sixth Avenue
• Third Avenue
• Nickerson paving project
• 25th Avenue NE
Paving project breakdown
Georgetown: Beginning sometime next spring, the Seattle Department of Transportation will start the repaving project that will include South Michigan Street from 4th Avenue South to Corson Avenue South; South Bailey Street from Corson Avenue South to Carleton Avenue South; and Corson Avenue South from South Michigan Street to South Orcas Street.
Fourth Avenue: SDOT will repave 4th Avenue South between South Royal Brougham Way and South Spokane Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in May and will take about six months.
Sixth Avenue: Repaving will occur between Stewart Street and Yesler Way. Work is scheduled to begin sometime in the summer.
Third Avenue: Road and sidewalk improvements along 3rd Avenue will be made between Virginia Street and Broad Street sometime in the spring.
Nickerson: The principal arterial and major truck and transit route that serves more than 20,000 vehicles on an average weekday will get some much-needed attention starting in spring or summer. The project design is being finalized in February.
25th Avenue: The city will resurface more than four miles of 25th Avenue between Mountlake Boulevard NE and NE 65th Street.
Arterial paving projects are supported by the Levy to Move Seattle, which allows the city to pave up to 180 miles of streets over nine years. The $930 million levy was approved in November 2015.
