Two teenage girls are dead after a shooting in the parking lot of a Burien apartment complex Wednesday night. Detectives say the shooting appears to be gang related.

Officers were called to a report of a shooting on Ambaum Boulevard Southwest in the 13700 block after 9:30 p.m.

“It was a pretty horrible and chaotic scene with people running everywhere and screaming,” King County Sheriff’s spokesman Ryan Abbott told The Seattle Times.

The King County Sheriff’s Office said the two girls were taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition but later died from their injuries.

Deputies are searching for male suspects who they believe fled in a car parked nearby.

Authorities say there has been an increase in violence in the area lately. The King County Sheriff’s Office and Burien Police say they are increasing patrols in the area.
