Is Starbucks solving a non-existent problem by blocking pornography?

Many people like to begin their mornings with a cup of coffee and the news, but for some weirdos, the day hasn’t started until they’ve watched pornography. “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my pornography,” they might say.

Well the halcyon days are over for those that liked to do this in Starbucks. After intense public pressure for the past two years, the company will roll out a content blocking tool to prevent users from watching porn, reports Business Insider.

“I’ve been in a lot of Starbucks in my life and have never observed anything even close to approaching this kind of stuff, where people are sitting around watching pornography,” said KIRO Radio’s Tom Tangney.

McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, and Subway jumped on the porn-blocking bandwagon ages ago, but Starbucks had yet to make the change, until this week when a petition from internet-safety organization Enough Is Enough gathered more than 26,000 signatures.

Like Tom, Curley has also never noticed anyone watching porn in Starbucks. But he was unfortunately witness to it on a plane.

“I’ve seen a guy on a plane in front of me have it on, like in-between the seats there, and the guy sitting next to him couldn’t see it because the screen was tilted in such a way,” he said. “But it’s like, really? You’re going to sit there and look at that on a plane? Good God.”
