Ron and Don...

(The Ron and Don Show)

(The Ron and Don Show)

With 2019 a mere 17 days away, I was tempted to do my version of the year in review. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that what I really wanted to do is to just take a minute to thank you for listening to the show.

Don and I have been at this for over 20 years, and we’ve been told over and over again for almost all of those two decades that radio is dying. People have said to us more times that I could count, “Why would someone listen to the radio? They will have all their entertainment options right in the dashboard of their car.” We heard versions of “Radio is Dead” when satellite radio came along, when podcasts came along, when Spotify came along — you get the picture.

But we have always believed that if we talked about things that are important to our neighbors, did our best every day to get things right, and correct ourselves quickly when we didn’t, that you would keep listening.

So, thank you for trusting us with your time in the car, or the shop, or in your earbuds. We don’t take you for granted.

Every day when I wake up and start putting the show together, I’m thinking about you. So thanks.

It’s because of you and your support that we get to do what we love every day. You give us your time and your energy. You support our advertisers knowing that’s how this whole thing works, and you always respond when we bring you opportunities to help out. That’s one of the things I’m most grateful for.

Sometimes if feels like you’re just talking to your friends in the studio day after day, but when we ask you to respond to something big and you do, it makes it all worth it.

I know we don’t always agree with each other, but we can agree to disagree and still be friends. I’m glad we have that kind of relationship with you.

Here’s to 2019, where the odometer on the Ron and Don Show will click over 25,000 hours that Don and I have talked together on the radio. Thanks for being the most important part.
