Dave Somers leads in early election results (57 percent) in the race for Snohomish County Executive. He maintained that lead after an update on Wednesday afternoon.
His opponent, John Lovick, was appointed to the executive’s office in June of 2013. He maintained his position after a special election in November 2014.

There’s been no shortage of drama in the executive race. Lovick, a former Snohomish County Sheriff and state legislator from Mill Creek, told The Seattle Times there is no discontent after he openly supported a former deputy executive who allegedly threatened a council member. Lovick has also been outspoken about finances and management of the county budget.
Somers has promised to work closely with cities, take a broad approach to affordable housing and addiction treatment, and help Arlington secure a manufacturing center near the airport, according to the Times.
The two candidates have also butted heads on what to do about replacing an aging Snohomish County Courthouse.
