A popular local chain of Caribbean restaurants that put patrons on an emotional roller coaster is taking steps to open another shop in Seattle’s SoDo district.
Caribbean Family Foods, LLC, the company that owns the Paseo sandwich shops, applied for a beer and wine license with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board on Dec. 18.
The restaurant will be at 1760 1st Ave. South, according to the license application.

It’s a move that was foreshadowed in July. Ryan Santwire, the entrepreneur who revived Paseo when he bought it at a bankruptcy auction in December 2014, told The Seattle Times there may be another location in SoDo.
Santwire saved the sandwich shop after patrons were stunned to find both the Fremont and Ballard locations closed in 2014.
No permits have been filed to the City of Seattle regarding the new restaurant, according to Department of Planning and Development’s website. The last activity for the address was in 2008, when a geotechnical report was compiled.
