Public Health probing possible E. coli outbreak at Seattle salad shop

Public health officials are investigating an E. coli outbreak that might be connected to four Evergreen salad shops in Seattle.

Six people tested positive for E. coli after eating lettuce and other raw vegetables there. One other person had an E. coli infection with the same genetic fingerprint as the others but didn’t eat at Evergreens. One individual was hospitalized and discharged, and everyone else with the illness has recovered.

Public Health says they’re still doing tests, but this appears to be a different strain of E. coli than the outbreak blamed on romaine lettuce from Salinas, California.

Washington state does have one case, linked to the Salinas lettuce.
