Police chase prompts lockdown at Kentwood High School

Dec 5, 2014, 8:57 AM | Updated: 12:26 pm

Kentwood High School was locked down Friday morning after a man arrested during a traffic stop nearby, evaded police and ran onto campus.

According to the Kent School District, Covington police pulled the suspect over and discovered he had an outstanding warrant. Officers arrested and put handcuffs on the man, but he took off for the school. He pulled a coat over the handcuffs and tried to blend in with the crowd, according to Kent School District spokesman Chris Loftis.

The school district’s security camera monitoring office tracked the man to a school office, where security detained him for police.
