Massive crash injures 10, over 12 cars damaged in Seattle’s Rainier Valley

Ten people were hurt, two critically, and over one dozen cars damaged after a serious car crash in south Seattle scattered over three and a half blocks.
The Seattle Fire Department reports a driver speeding at 60-70 miles per hour careened into at least 12 cars along Rainier Avenue South.
Fire fighters had to extract people from three cars, several that rolled over, said Kyle Moore, Seattle Fire Department spokesman.
Five people were injured in one car including two children. Two patients were transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical head injuries. Seven others suffered serious injuries, Moore said.
Debris was strewn all over the road and police blocked off Rainier Avenue South between Seward Park Avenue South and 53rd Avenue South to investigate.
A police car was among those damaged in the crash. An officer was evaluated at the scene and released.
A number of bus routes were diverted.
The Seattle Times reports that police say the 70-year-old driver of the pickup was booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.
